Buying a used motorcycle should feel exciting—not uncertain. Our Pre‑Purchase Inspection service gives you complete confidence by providing a thorough, structured assessment of the bike’s condition before you commit.
Our pre-Purchase inspection is a comprehensive 50‑point evaluation that covers the motorcycle from front to back. From “First Look” and through driveline, controls, bodywork, fluids, electrics, and starting performance.

What the inspection covers
First Look & General Condition
We start with an overall visual assessment to identify anything immediately concerning or unusual. such as does the bike generally look OK, is there Anything different left/right, obviously missing or oil leaks and is the bike straight
Driveline & Wheels
We examine the alignment, condition, and function of all major driveline components, including: Wheel alignment and trueness, Bearings, Chain condition, lubrication, and adjustment, Sprocket wear, Tyre condition, depth, and evenness.
Controls & Steering
Your safety depends on responsive, reliable controls. We check: Brake and clutch lever free play, Gear lever and brake pedal operation, Handlebar alignment, Steering bearings, Switchgear (starter, kill switch, indicators, horn)
Suspension & Chassis
We assess the bike’s structural integrity and ride quality by inspecting: Fork condition, Suspension movement and leaks, Rider and pillion peg security, Swingarm alignment and free play
Bodywork & Frame
Cosmetic and structural checks include:, Fairing fitment and fasteners, Seat, hugger, and pegs, Lenses and lighting, Fuel tank interior, Exhaust security, Side/centre stand condition
Fluids & Consumables
We verify both the level and quality (where possible) of all essential fluids: Engine oil, Coolant, Front and rear brake fluid
Electrical System & Documentation
A reliable motorcycle needs a healthy electrical system and proper paperwork. We check: Wiring harness security, Connectors and fuses, Battery condition, Registration status, Frame and engine number match, Service history and manuals
Starting & Running Condition
Finally, we assess how the bike behaves when started from cold: Ease of starting, Idle quality, Exhaust smoke, Noise levels, Any leaks or unusual noises. Note: We do not take the motorcycle on the road, or ride it.
Your report
After the inspection, you receive a clear, structured report within 48 hours of the inspection detailing:

The cost
The report is a fixed price of £145 plus travel at £1.25 per mile; it takes us around 2 hours on site, plus time to write it up and send it to you.
To work out your cost, use Google Maps, enter M8 MOTO as the starting point, and the postcode where the bike is. Then take the mileage Google Maps says, multiply it by the travel cost above and add the report cost.
Payment methods: Payment is in full in advance. We have to do this as we have had a few occasions where we have been and inspected the motorcycle, produced the full report, and before the report was sent, the clients changed their mind.
