HIGHLIGHTS

HIGHLIGHTS

The tour begins and ends in Tbilisi, where riders gather for a welcome briefing before heading west on a beautiful, small road toward the Didgori Battle Memorial — a striking monument commemorating Georgia’s victory over the Seljuk Turks. This early stretch sets the tone: brand‑new tarmac, sweeping views, and a sense of riding through living history.

From there, the route dives into Georgia’s most iconic landscapes. You’ll explore Vardzia, the extraordinary cave‑city monastery carved into cliffs; ride through the lush hills and waterfalls of the central regions; and climb toward the ancient stone towers of Ushguli in Svaneti — one of Europe’s highest continuously inhabited settlements. The journey continues along the curves of the Caucasus, crossing high passes such as Zagari and reaching the Gergeti Trinity Church beneath the towering 5,000‑meter Mount Kazbegi.

Cultural immersion is woven throughout: tasting local wine, staying in cosy mountain lodges, and meeting Georgians known for their warmth and hospitality. With English‑ and Russian‑speaking guides, small groups of 4–8 riders, and the option to add off‑road sections on Dakar‑style tracks, this tour balances comfort with adventure

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi

Arrival in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. Transfer from the airport to the hotel.

Over dinner, you’ll meet the KHL Moto Travel crew, receive a briefing on the route, and go through the tour rules. A relaxed start to settle in and get to know your fellow riders.

Day 2: Vardzia (±240 km)

We begin on a beautiful, small road linking eastern and western Georgia. The ride toward the Didgori Battle Memorial is unforgettable: fresh tarmac, sweeping curves, and open landscapes made for motorcycles.

The memorial commemorates Georgia’s victory over the Seljuk Turks — a turning point that sparked one of the country’s most prosperous eras. This east–west route once formed part of the historic Silk Road, and the scenery shifts dramatically every 20 km.

The road climbs high along the ridgeline before descending toward Vardzia. En route, we pass Khertvisi Fortress, once visited by Alexander the Great. We finish the day opposite the spectacular 12th–13th century Vardzia cave‑monastery, staying in a scenic complex overlooking the site.

Day 3: Kutaisi (±230 km)

Today’s landscapes feel completely different — as if you’ve crossed continents. We ride through Borjomi and into the Samtskhe‑Javakheti region, known for dramatic cliffs, lush valleys, and deep cultural heritage.

This area is considered one of the birthplaces of modern Georgia. We end the day in Kutaisi, the country’s former capital and still a major cultural centre.

Day 4: Ushguli Region (±300 km)

We take the smaller inner roads of Samegrelo National Park toward one of the most spectacular routes in the Caucasus.

Remote and fiercely traditional, Svaneti has preserved its customs and pagan traditions through centuries of shifting empires. Medieval watchtowers rise along the road — once used for defence and for storing crops.

Svaneti’s culture, food, and mountain spirit make it a magical place. We stay in a cosy local guesthouse and soak in the atmosphere. Dusty paths lead to countless viewpoints, each more impressive than the last.

Day 5: Ushguli (Rest / Exploration Day)

A relaxed day to explore the mountain tops, wander through ancient villages, and enjoy the high‑altitude views. Perfect for stretching the legs and absorbing Svaneti’s unique character.

Day 6: Oni (±200 km)

We ride from Ushguli over the Zagari Pass — an endless series of winding mountain roads with breathtaking views.

Descending into the lower valleys, we enter Oni, a town set deep in a gorge along the Rioni River. It serves as the administrative centre of the Racha‑Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region.

Day 7: Gori (±160 km)

Gori is best known as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, and the museum dedicated to his life is a major historical site.

The town also features the 13th‑century Gori Fortress and the ancient rock‑cut city of Uplistsikhe, located just 10 km away.

We end the day with time to unwind — pool, sauna, and a comfortable evening.

Day 8: Gudauri (±200 km)

From Gori we ride into the Kazbegi region, home to peaks rising above 5,000 metres. The mountain roads are a dream: flowing corners, dramatic climbs, and unforgettable views.

If conditions allow, we ride up to the 14th‑century Gergeti Trinity Church — one of Georgia’s most iconic landmarks, framed by the towering Mount Kazbegi.

We stay in a comfortable lodge and enjoy a hearty local dinner.

Day 9: Akhmeta (±150 km)

The road follows the canyon and passes the Zhinvali Reservoir before we take a short walk to the Kvetera Fortress Church — a hidden gem with views worth every step, even in full riding gear.

We overnight in a beautiful hotel with a pool and views toward Tusheti National Park… the perfect place to dream about tomorrow’s adventure into Omalo.

Day 10: Akhmeta (Choose Your Adventure Day)

Today, you choose your challenge:

  • Ride off‑road to the Alazani Pass and Omalo

  • Take a 4×4 and enjoy the scenery from the comfort of a van

  • Relax by the pool with a glass of Georgian red wine

Your adventure, your pace.

Day 11: Tbilisi (±150 km)

We ride south toward Tbilisi via the Sioni Reservoir — a gentle, winding mountain road that eases us back toward civilisation.

In the evening, we gather for a celebratory dinner, sharing stories, photos, and contacts… and maybe planning the next adventure together.

Day 12: Departure from Tbilisi
