HIGHLIGHTS
This 1,800 km tour takes you through the heart of Bulgaria and Romania, combining panoramic mountain roads, deep forests, river valleys, and some of Europe ’s most extraordinary natural formations. Starting and finishing in Sofia, the route leads you to the Belogradchik Rocks and the prehistoric Magura Cave before crossing the Danube into Romania’s vast agricultural plains and charming rural towns.
From there, the adventure climbs into the Southern Carpathians to tackle the legendary Transalpina — one of the highest and most scenic roads in the region. With its sweeping bends, high passes, and endless viewpoints, it offers riders the perfect blend of challenge and beauty. The journey continues to Turda, where you descend into the spectacular Salina Turda salt mine, a vast underground world with centuries of history carved into its walls.
The tour then moves on to Brasov, a medieval Saxon city rich with fortifications, cobbled streets, and Gothic architecture. The next day brings another highlight: the Transfăgărășan, a road celebrated by riders and travellers worldwide for its dramatic switchbacks, waterfalls, glacial lakes, and towering peaks. It’s a route that stays with you long after the ride is over.
The final stretch leads to Bucharest, Romania’s energetic capital, before crossing back into Bulgaria for a night in Ruse, complete with a private wine tasting.
Our journey completes in Sofia with a closing dinner — a chance to share stories, photos, and memories from a week of exceptional riding, culture, and discovery.
ITINERARY
Day 1. Welcome to Sofia
Arrive in Sofia, Bulgaria’s vibrant capital. After your airport transfer and hotel check‑in, we meet in the evening for a short briefing — a chance to get to know your fellow riders and run through the essentials before the adventure begins.
Day 2. Sofia – Belogradchik (about 240 km)
The ride starts strong. We follow the ridge of the Balkan Mountains toward the surreal Belogradchik Rocks — a 200‑million‑year‑old natural fortress sculpted by time. We also explore Magura Cave, home to Bronze Age rock paintings found nowhere else in Southeast Europe. It’s a perfect first taste of the region’s wild beauty.
Day 3. Belogradchik – Novaci (about 270 km)
We head north toward Romania, passing through Vidin on the banks of the Danube. After crossing the river, the landscape opens into vast plains and endless farmland. The day winds down in the quiet town of Novaci, gateway to the Carpathians.
Day 4. Novaci – Turda (about 230 km)
Today we ride the legendary Transalpina — one of the highest and most spectacular roads in the Carpathians. Its sweeping bends, high passes, and panoramic viewpoints make it a dream for motorcyclists. With low speed limits and huge scenery, this is a day for soaking in every moment.
Day 5. Turda – Brasov (about 240 km)
We descend into Salina Turda, an ancient salt mine turned underground cathedral of rock and history. After lunch, we ride to Brasov — a medieval Saxon city framed by mountains, fortifications, and centuries of culture. It’s one of Transylvania’s true gems.
Day 6. Brasov – Bucharest (about 380 km)
Transfăgărășan day — the crown jewel of Romanian riding. This twisting, high‑alpine road delivers everything: hairpins, waterfalls, glacial lakes, and dramatic peaks. Day 7. Bucharest – Ruse (about 80 km)
A short, easy ride today. After crossing back into Bulgaria, we settle into a private hotel with its own wine cellar — and enjoy a specially arranged tasting of some of the region’s best bottles.
