Unsupported means no chase trucks to carry your load. Everything you need to survive and conquer the wilderness travels on your bike. Equipped with tools, spare tubes, and essentials shared across the team, this is adventure riding stripped down to its purest, most authentic form. Out here, when challenges arise, we face them together. We ride as one.

Having carved our tracks through this rugged landscape for years, we can tell you this is one of the most soul-stirring, challenging, and deeply rewarding adventure-riding destinations on the planet. It is an epic pilgrimage that every true adventure rider owes to themselves at least once in their lifetime.

Traversing three states (NSW, SA, QLD) and the Northern Territory, this journey takes you far beyond the ordinary. You will circumnavigate the formidable Simpson Desert, trace ancient Aboriginal tracks, and immerse yourself in Australia’s rich heritage—all on a path leading to the majestic red heart of the continent, Uluru. And that is only the beginning.

Designed for those with a spirit for endurance and confidence off the pavement, this epic voyage will push your limits and reward you with some of the most awe-inspiring, untamed scenery the Australian Outback has to offer.

Terrain & Riding: Demanding, full-day riding stints over technical and unpredictable terrain, including deep sand, heavy mud, loose rock, and steep mountain tracks. Riders must be experienced in off-road vehicle control and have physical endurance to handle challenging environmental conditions and long saddle times.

Cultural Experience: Complete cultural immersion in remote or isolated regions. There may be deeply foreign customs, local traditional dietary staples, minimal Western amenities, and rudimentary or communal overnight stays. High adaptability and cultural respect are essential.

Highlights

  • Silverton: Famous living ghost town with a permanent population of around 50 people, popular with filmmakers e.g. Mad Max 2, Mission: Impossible, etc.

  • Wilpena Pound: A massive, natural geological amphitheatre located in the heart of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park

  • Oodnadatta Track: Part of the original Ghan Railway which ran from Adelaide to Alice Springs

  • Coober Pedy: Explore the remote opal-mining town, famous for its subterranean homes.

  • The Breakaways: Once the floor of a vast inland sea, it is now a breathtaking expanse of arid outback scenery, flat-topped mesas, and vibrant, multi-coloured sandstone hills

  • Dalhousie Springs: Bath in the natural desert oasis hot springs on the edge of the Simpson Desert

  • William Creek: One of Australia's smallest towns (with a permanent population of fewer than 20 people) and the world's remotest hotel

  • Uluru & Kata Tjuta (The Olgas): Visit the massive, sacred red sandstone rock that is Uluru (Ayres Rock)

  • Kings Canyon: The Rim walk of this majestic, deep sandstone chasm is not to be missed

  • Western McDonald Ranges: Ride along the ancient, sprawling stretch of rugged red quartzite ridges, deep desert gorges, and hidden freshwater swimming holes

  • Big Red: Optionally ride Australia's biggest dune, a massive, 40-metre-high iron-rich sand dune

  • Lambert Centre: The gravitational Centre of Australia

Itinerary

Due to the nature of travelling in remote Australia on dirt roads, the itinerary cannot be 100% fixed. Stopover days are included to both allow you to rest and explore areas of particular interest, and to provide contingency should we need to adjust due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Day 1 - Parkes

We leave Sydney and cross the Great Dividing Range, passing through country towns and twisty roads before visiting the Mt Panorama Race Track for a lap of the track and Lunch in Bathurst. Then we take the back roads to the town of Parkes for the night, famous for its part in receiving signals of the first Moon Landing in 1969. Today will be all sealed road surfaces as you get used to riding in Australia and, for some, riding on the left-hand side of the road.

Day 2 - Ivanhoe

We continue heading West as we follow the course of the Lachlan River; expect a mixture of good sealed and some easy dirt roads to get you used to riding on Australian unsealed surfaces. This part of NSW is known as the breadbasket of Australia; it is characterised predominantly by farming, is lush and green, as the fields are irrigated by the Lachlan River

Day 3 - Silverton

Leaving Ivanhoe, it's dirt all the way to the Menindee Lakes, a series of 9 shallow lakes that are a birdwatchers' paradise. In the afternoon, it's back to the sealed road that will take us to the historic silver mining town of Broken Hill and Silverton.

Day 4 - Silverton (Free Day)

Free day today to explore Silverton and the Broken Hill area.

Maybe visit the Mad Max Museum, the Day Dream Mine, the Desert Sculpture Park, the Line-of-Lode or just chill out in Broken Hill. There is a lot to explore in the area.

What to Expect

The Ride

We will be travelling to some very remote areas on this trip; flexibility and an adventurous attitude are essential. In this country, plans have a habit of changing; you need to be adaptable.

Included is on-tour coaching, if you want it.

Accommodation

The nature of travel out here means it is very difficult to book very far ahead. Where we can stay in a hotel/motel, we will, but do not expect 5-star luxury here; this is a seriously remote trip. There will be nights of camping possibly in the Desert; if you want a hotel guaranteed every night, this tour is not for you. What we can promise you is a great time, cold beer, good food, great company and some of the best adventure riding on the planet.

Climate

Expect everything from 30 °C temperatures during the day to cold nights and possibly cold days.

Rain is not uncommon, but fairly rare. If it does rain, we will be adjusting the itinerary to avoid the rain. This may mean a total replan. It's not about getting wet; it's about this tour is mainly on unsealed surfaces, which become impassable, often for weeks, after rain.

Important

All riders must have a valid motorcycle licence, be experienced, and be comfortable riding off-road for multiple consecutive days.

Riders must be physically fit to ride for potentially hours at a time, standing on the pegs as outback conditions cannot be guaranteed

Route

Accomodation

Coober Pedy Cave Hotel
  • 32-33 Nights of hotel accommodation

  • 2-3 Nights of Camping

  • Accommodation ranges from basic outback rooms (think of a room with a bed), outback pubs, glamping on outback stations, to good-quality hotels.

  • This is a very remote travel itinerary; a flexible attitude is required for accommodation.

  • All accommodation is on a twin-share basis, unless a single occupancy supplement applies and can be booked accordingly.

Due to the nature of remote outback travel, we may need to camp in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If we do, all camping equipment (excluding sleeping bag) is provided.

Dinning

Typical Outback meal: Steak and Chips
  • Breakfasts and Evening meals are included every day

  • Lunch is not included, as sometimes we may not be in a place where lunch is possible.

  • If you are a vegetarian or vegan, reconsider this trip; it can be difficult to cater for this in the Outback. Meals in this remote area tend towards Meat, veggies, and Fries, sometimes rice.

News

We periodically send out a newsletter, maybe 2 to 4 times a year, to share important updates about new tours, dates, service offers, and training/coaching opportunities. Please complete the form on the right if you would like to stay informed.
