HIGHLIGHTS
When you land at Skardu Airport, we will transport you and your luggage to the hotel where your bike will be waiting. After your flight, it's time to get settled, chill out, or jump on your bike and take it for a spin around Skardu. In the evening we will have a great welcome feast to allow everyone to get to know each other, go through a few logistics, and answer any last-minute questions you may have.
The first few days of riding take us to Hushe, "the last village", a launching point for those attempting to summit K2 and others. Along the way are waterfalls, rivers, and dodgy-looking suspension bridges (they look unsafe, but looks are deceiving). We have lunch in the shadow of K1 (Masherbrun) before returning to Skardu, for those that want to, a ride on the dunes of Sarfaranga and Katpana Deserts is fun, these are the highest cold deserts in the world.
We cross the stunning Deosai National Park in the foothills of the Himalayas. The Deosai National Park has been described by many as a mini Mongolia and is a very unique environment with its wide open spaces, rolling hills, and lush green grass. At an average height of 4,100m Deosai is the second highest plateau in the world and is populated by Himalayan Brown Bear, Snow Leopards, and Himalayan Wolves,
We travel to Fairy Meadows for an optional 16km round trip trek to Nangar Parbat (The Killer Mountain) Basecamp. The trek has been described as, spectacular, epic, not to be missed, one of the best in the world, you get the idea. Or just laze around Fairy Meadows, there may be a Polo Match on, or take one of the shorter walks around the area.
We then ride the Karakoram highway to Gilgit via the spot where the Himalayas, Karakorum, and the Hindu Kush all collide.
